Title: Hobby King
Post by: al watt on January 31, 2019, 03:46:29 PM
Hello Guys
Just took delivery of a Avios Grand Tundra.   Very nice plane but predictably with bits missing    Luckily some I can sort myself like the screws that go into the control surface horns still in China.  etc.
But it has the springs missing from the tail wheel.
I tried to contact Hobby King Uk but this was pointless as "The computer says NO
Anyone know how best to contact them re the Avios Grand Tundra as I know many,   unlike me,     have had dealings with them in the past.

Mike thank you.   I don't mind ordering springs it's just don't know where to get them as HK are almost impossible to contact.   If you can let me know the size and any ideas where to buy them.
Thank s
Al

Thank you Mike just done an RMS form to Hobbyking ....Not sure if that will solve the problem as have had no dealings with HobbyMing as Ian calls it?
Shame its pain to deal with   would rather buy from a Hobby shop but they dont have them as everything is fine if the kit is complete    Just hope the electronics work.
Will let you know

Looking at the instructions, the control surface horns donít seem to have screws, so maybe they arenít missing, they just donít exist..
Iíve never had any parts missing from HK planes, but did think I was missing screws. I sent in the form and they said to recheck the box, which I was sure was empty. There they were taped to the packaging in a small placcy bag. Maybe worth a recheck for the springs. Do you still have the bag for the rear wheel assy?
Maybe this will help, maybe not...but I hope itís of some help.

Thanks Ian.
I will check the box again but did that two nights ago so doubt springs are about..      The servo arms have a collet which has the push rod that goes through it.    You then tighten the screw onto the rod.    Other end has ball joints as in helis

I have modified these so that is not an issue as had clevises

Hobby King have authorised the whole kit to be sent back   Which is impractical as 99% finished assuming electrics work?
All I want is the springs. Or them to send another kit and I will send that new one back minus springs.      So at the moment hope they get back to me

Well Hobby King don't want to help send me springs.   Poor form for my first Buy from them...I worked round missing bits and manual
Have not checked electrics yet.. Lovely plane but sadly poor back up from Mr HMing
I can not send a 99% complete kit back to risk getting caught up with out of stock or damage problems or even a replacement kit that is missing very important parts.
Poor form me thinks. Last HK kit I buy.  For two missing springs
Mike can you let me know the size of Spring on your GTundra and I will see  if I can order from eBay please..

I have the screws for the collets as I always replace the cheese grade screws that come with kits.

The springs you can get from the likes of Autosave. Just ask to see small throttle return springs for a carb.

Gee Ian
Thanks  did not know it would be that simple to get springs.. You should get a job with Hobby King  as I have spent hours trying to resolve the missing springs with them with no success.
The collets I don't require as changed these to clevises.
I just hope the electrics work    waiting for a XT90 connector to power up.
Much appreciated

Mike
I do not have that model but I would say the spare two wire plug is for powering your lights as they only need two wires to power them, it would be plugged into a spare channel on your Rx but before you plug it in check that the black wire is the same as your other plugs.

Sorry Mike ,Ian my wife is in hospital so have not been near the web site. I have ordered springs Mike  they arrive tomorrow...   The black and white wire is for the red strobe light

I had one hell of a problem with the flap servo screws in wings...Some  very stupid servo worker tightened the very cheap servo screws so tight even my  snap on screw drivers could not loosen them...   Got them out and replaced .....flaps now working..   will plug landing lights into gear y lead so that when I switch flaps they will come on...
Might not get to the club for a while guys.   Depends on how quickly my wife recovers from an op....

Thank you much appreciated.  It takes my mind off things.
Hope the build goes well.  Lovely kit spoilt a little bit by cheap accessories,    but for us master craftsmen no problem

I wrote to the CEO of HobbyKing,   to complain re my issue of no help from them,  re my missing springs for my Grand Tundra.. It was not their fault but I was getting no back up from them.. Although USA had contacted the manufacturer..
I sent that  email last night         -this morning was phoned by the assistant to the CEO who has instructed the UK warehouse to open a kit and post them immediately.  Had a long chat with her and she invited me to a flyin at the Norfolk warehouse in September to fly .They have RC and fullsize flying from their own runway.
I know you get first class service from Dave Wilshere but you don't expect the CEO of an international company to email me and sort it out within minutes ..  Pretty impressive

Just a thought Al . As the CEO is in USA I assume the assistant is too, would the flyin be at Norfolk Virginia ?
Hope they pay yer airfare 😃

They have a Skype meeting first thing international.   He worked in HKing Norfolk Uk.   Used to own a model shop in Norfolk uk which may or may not have been Galaxy Models. I think he had work experience there and became accountant and now taken over from the guy (forget name ) co -founder who now is high   Back seat in the board of Directors.

The springs came today.
