Title: Alastair Sutherland
Post by: Alan C on April 20, 2019, 04:57:36 PM
A wee bit of sad news Alastair passed away peacefully at home on Friday 19/4/2019. Alastair served on the AAMFC committee as membership secretary for several years during this time he also learned to fly. He was a member of the veteran mid week flyers back a few years ago when they drank tea chewed the fat and had the odd flight but had a great time doing this.  I am sure all our thoughts will be with the family at this sad time.

The funeral is on Friday at 1.45 in the crematorium East Chapel.
Iím afraid that Iíll not make it as I will be at a funeral service in Inverurie at 1.00. You may not have known John Barnes but he was a long time member of ABERDEEN District Soarers.

All,
The Sutherland family have asked for Alastair's ashes to be scattered on the field of which of course we have agreed to. This ceremony will take place on Sunday 28th +/-1400hrs.
They have expressed that they do not want to take over the field and normal weekend flying can take place on Sunday however the committee ask that you please afford the family the courtesy to pay their respects to Alastair when they arrive and during the process by not flying for the short duration whilst they are scattering the ashes.

Hopefully we will have some for of club representation at the funeral service today also.

Edit for day change as per family's request
