Did you know that the previous name of Aberdeen Aeromodellers was Bucksburn Aeromodelling Team as reported in November 1963 Model Aircraft. It was very different then.

My sister in 1974 ish stayed in Bankhead Road Bucksburn….I remember walking with her and her then babies,   at the back of her house in a lane which came to a field.....I remember a sign pretty old looking,     and I am sure it said Bucksburn Aeromodelling club..  Certainly was a model  flying site..It was either Bucksburn or Aberdeen model club.

About 1964, me and my then pal, used to go to the club meetings held in St Kathrines.
Alex Kennedy was the chairman and the life and soul of the club.
Cant remember the club name then.

We used to go and see the members fly at Dyce Airfield on Sundays, as there was no full size flying on Sundays.
I also remember a display at the bottom of the Broad Hill behind the Beach Ballroom about 1964 which was part of the celebration of the end of the typhoid outbreak. No Health & Safety back then.
